We are physical beings reaching toward ideas that often feel beyond the physical. We move toward our own sense of perfection, falling in and out of alignment along the way - never quite arriving, yet continually becoming closer. Perfectly Imperfect explores this tension between the limitations of physical form and the idea of something beyond them.
Perfectly Imperfect explores the tension between physical existence and the pursuit of spiritual perfection. A physical form is subject to limitations that an ideal or spiritual form is not, making perfect and continuous alignment impossible - yet the attempt to move toward it remains meaningful. Each movement toward and away from that ideal becomes part of the process, bringing us closer without ever allowing us to completely arrive.
This design uses the behavior of the Fibonacci sequence as a mathematical metaphor for this continual approach: the relationship between successive terms moves closer and closer to φ, but never reaches it.
The Design
This design transforms the relationship between consecutive Fibonacci numbers into an oscillating visual form around φ, the golden ratio. As the Fibonacci sequence progresses, the ratio between successive terms alternates above and below φ while steadily approaching it, creating a pattern of continual movement toward alignment without complete arrival. This mathematical behavior becomes the visual language of the piece: falling away, returning, approaching, and beginning again.
